White Currants

Complete renovation | Madrid | Salamanca District

Transforming an apartment into a home requires listening not only to the space, but also to the people who will live there. In the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood, in a building dating from the late 1950s, lies White Currants, a project where calm, light, and the nobility of the materials interact in balance.

The owners were looking for a radical change. The house, compartmentalized and outdated, didn't take advantage of its natural light potential or its generous original heights. The challenge was clear: redesign the space to adapt to the lifestyle of a large family, integrating four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a laundry room, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a powder room, and a work area, without losing spaciousness or coherence.

The transformation

White Currants follows a clear approach: a balance between architectural sobriety and a bold touch. Wood takes center stage, present in floors, cabinetry, and woodwork, accompanied by classic moldings and porcelain tiles that reinterpret marble.

The color palette maintains a calm atmosphere: whites, sands, and wood tones in the construction elements, creating a serene background against which the art and furniture stand out with touches of color.

The layout flows naturally. Sliding doors with fine ironwork and fluted glass allow the spaces to be connected or separated, providing lightness and sophistication. The dining room opens into the living room, which opens into the work area, and the entire space exudes spaciousness and light. The bedrooms, at the other end, offer privacy and comfort, carefully designed to meet the needs of a large family.

At Blanca Rosa Gutiérrez Studio, we understand architecture as an emotional and human act. Each project is a conversation with the space and the people who will inhabit it.

White Currants is a reflection of that philosophy: a home designed to enjoy light, generous spaces, and noble materials that age with dignity.

The challenge was not only to redistribute, but to create a serene refuge, where architectural sobriety coexists with natural textures, warm lighting , and touches of color that reveal the personality of those who live there.

A home that exudes calm, balance, and functionality, yet dares to surprise with its details. A place that connects with its surroundings, its history, and the daily life of a family who make it their own.
